Performance Events are considered to be "breed specific". This means that the breeds that are eligible were developed in order to perform this function. There are almost 100 AKC recognized breeds and many FSS breeds that are eligible to enter some type of performance event. There is a great deal of pleasure in watching your dog's inherent skills develop as its training progresses. There are performance events for:

- Hounds - Beagles, Dachshunds, Basset Hounds
- Herding breeds
- Lure Coursing
- Earthdogs
- Coonhounds
